Village of Bethalto Façade Grant Information

The Stage One 2024 Village of Bethalto Façade Grant applications are due  - August 1, 2024 until September 15, 2024.

Grant recipient announcements is October 2024.. 


The Bethalto Business District Facade Revitalization Grant Program will provide financial assistance to property owners for permanent building and site improvements (real property improvements only) associated with existing structures and/or land.  Examples of permanent improvements include:


  • Life safety and accessibility code requirements
  • Repair/replacement of roof, floors, structural walls or windows
  • Exterior/interior rehabilitation, reconstruction, repair or remodeling of an existing structure
  • Repair/replacement of electrical, plumbing, heating or cooling systems
  • Installation of an elevator, sprinkler, fire or smoke alarm system; and
  • Parking lot paving or landscaping (excluding fencing for screening purposes).


Grant amounts are awarded according to tiers:


  • Tier 1 Village Participation is for businesses within the Business District who collect Business District Taxes.  Village participation will be 50% of total facade project, not to exceed $25,000.
  • Tier 2 Village Participation is for businesses within the Business District who do not collect Taxes on behalf of the Business Districts.  Village participation for those businesses will be 50% of total facade project, not to exceed $12,500.
